Number_i: A Japanese Boy Band

Number_i is a Japanese boy band. It was formed in October 2023. The group is managed by Tobe Co., Ltd., a company started by Hideaki Takizawa.

The group is made up of three former members of King & Prince: Sho Hirano, Yuta Kishi, and Yuta Jinguji. The name “Number_i” was chosen by Kishi. The letter “i” was used to mean “Number One and Only One.” It is also connected to the Japanese word for love (“愛”) and the English word “I.” The name was created to show their goal of being unique and successful.

Their first song, “GOAT,” was released on January 1, 2024. It was downloaded many times. In the first week, 481,475 copies were sold, including both digital downloads and physical sales. The song was ranked number one on the Billboard Japan Weekly Single Sales Chart. Their first TV performance was shown on March 2, 2024, on NHK’s Venue101.

In April 2024, the group was invited to perform at the Coachella music festival in the United States. This was their first performance outside Japan.

Their first album, “No. O: Ring,” was released on May 27, 2024. The song “Bon” was ranked number one on the Oricon Weekly Digital Single Chart. The album was also placed at the top of the Oricon Weekly Digital Album Chart.

During 2024, Number_i was asked to perform at big music festivals such as Rock in Japan Festival, Summer Sonic, and Wired Music Festival.

Because of their success, they were given the Best Music Group Award at the GQ Men of the Year event in 2024. In January 2025, Sho Hirano was chosen as a brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton Japan. This showed the group’s growing popularity in fashion as well.

However, some problems were also faced by the group. In January 2025, a cosmetics company wrote a negative comment about them. Many fans became angry. After this, the company was closed.

Even with some challenges, Number_i is still loved by many fans. Their music and performances continue to be enjoyed by people in Japan and around the world.
